Concord Methodist Episcopal Cemetery

Concord-Methodist Episcopal Cemetery - looking west from Hollansburg Road."This abandoned cemetery is located on the west side of the Hollansburg Pike, Franklin Township, Wayne County, Indiana, just north of the DeBolt Stone Quarry2 buildings.

I am most grateful to Mrs. Gail DeBolt of Richmond, Ind., who helped me determine the correct name of this cemetery.  On August 3, 1826, Levin Barton deeded one-half acre of land in the NE Qtr. of Sec. 1, Tp. 14, R1 West to the trustees of the Concord Meeting of the Methodist Episcopal church for the purpose of building a meeting house.  The trustees listed in the deed were William E. Barton, John Bond, Levin Barton, James Baker and Allen Huskins.

I have been unable to find any description of the type meeting house constructed, if one was built."1

This cemetery is now maintained by the Franklin Township trustee.  The stones are in very poor shape, many broken and unintelligible. This cemetery is about 1/3 of a mile north of the intersection of Hollansburg Pike and Inke Road, on the left (west) side. 3
